The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bergen County Sheriff’s
Office are pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the Bergen
County Youth Police Academy – Class #18.
The Academy is an all-day program offered to students residing in Bergen
County or attending high school in Bergen County. Preference will be given to
students entering the 11th or 12th grade in September 2024. The Academy is free of
charge. This year’s Academy will be held June 24 – July 3, 2024. Upon completion of
the Academy, there will be an official graduation ceremony on July 3rd.

10th-grade Chemistry students visited the American Museum of Natural History and The Hayden Planetarium in New York City. Students toured the museum and went to a space exploration show in the world-famous Hayden Planetarium. Our students saw actual examples of what they are learning in the classroom and participated in hands-on activities that will benefit their academic achievement in future science classes.

Tomorrow is the day! Bergen County Directors of Guidance College Fair to be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 5:30-8:30 PM at The Bill Bradley Center Sports and Recreation Center at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey. Students/Parents must register in advance: https://www.ramapo.edu/admissions/bergen-county-college-fair/ There will be close to 200 colleges, technical, business, and nursing schools in attendance. On the Ramapo College website you will see the list of schools who will be in attendance. This is a great opportunity to explore colleges and meet the admissions representatives who usually read applications from Westwood Regional High School.
Congratulations to 41 students who were recognized at last night's Board of Education Meeting for earning the Seal of Biliteracy. This identifies students who have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one other language. (Spanish, French, Italian, and Russian).

The Interscholastic Esports season in the High School Esports League & Garden State Esports has started, and we have 30+ Cardinals representing Westwood across 7 different games. Goals for the program include making runs in the Playoffs & returning to Nationals in Kansas City!

The High School Debate Team concluded their best season yet at the varsity invitational tournament this past Friday at Ridgefield Park High School. Captains Angel Morales and Daniel Shotkin qualified for the championship round at the end of the tournament and earned a second-place trophy for best team!! Daniel Shotkin also walked away with a second-place trophy for best speaker. While our team is sad to see the season end, we are excited to find out next year's topic at our next team meeting. GO CARDS!!!!

On Friday, March 8th, Students observed cardiac coronary bypass surgery from the Morristown Medical Center live streamed to the Liberty Science Center. Our students interacted with the surgical team, learned about procedures, introduced to careers in the health field, and risk factors that could lead to coronary disease.
