The HIgh School debate team had a successful tournament on Friday. Multiple debaters beat their personal records and won several rounds throughout the day. Additionally, a big congratulations to Emma DePeola for winning "Best Judge"! Go Cards!!!!

WIDA2023 Annual Conference took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this year. It is the leading conference for teachers of multilingual students in Pre-K through Grade 12, providing educators worldwide with the chance to exchange best practices and find novel methods of instruction. Pictured is Mrs. Cardona, High School teacher.
Dr. Matt Bellace delivered an entertaining and informative presentation to all students in grades 9-12 as part of our Red Ribbon Week celebration. Dr. Bellace focused on achieving "natural highs" and expressed the importance of leading a drug-free lifestyle. Dr. Bellace then delivered a parent version of the program in the evening which was open to all parents of students in grades 6-12.
Westwood Regional High School Assistant Principal, Michael Kenduck, presented on the use of artificial Intelligence in education at Rutgers University as part of the New Jersey Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference. Westwood Social Studies Instructors Ms. Palozzola and Mr. Nelson attended the conference. Westwood Psychology Instructor, Mrs. Wren, who serves as an At-Large Director of the NJCSS, attended the conference and helped plan the workshops for the cohort of Psychology Instructors.
PLCs, otherwise known as "professional learning communities", are intended to support student achievement. Yesterday, middle school teachers kicked off their PLCs by doing a data walk. Areas of inquiry include mathematical reasoning, interdisciplinary connections, and SEL.

French students in 7th and 8th grade had a great opportunity to attend an interactive French music concert on Eric Vincent’s final tour. All were immersed in the target language while creating a lasting impact on their journey of cultural understanding.
Mrs. Oldak’s Kindergarteners are really enjoying Reading Workshop time. They are learning how to put a “pinch of me” in their stories as they read, use sticky notes to mark pages that made them think of their own lives, and practice reading like a teacher! #BESTatBrookside
