We had a surprise visitor today: Ms. Loonan! Chandler Loonan surprised 5BL with a guest social studies lesson about the colonial craft trade of candle dipping.




Mrs. Houck and first graders love the Kings and Queens of numbers! They created number crowns in order from least to greatest to help practice place value, sequencing, and greater than/less than.

Working in centers or groups helps children learn a variety of academic and problem solving skills that can be used inside and outside of the classroom. Kindergartners are working on their math fact fluency and third graders are analyzing text in book clubs.



Kindergartners and Fifth Graders are having fun for the 100th day of school today!




Westwood School Counseling invites K-8 Parents to "Parent's Guide to Growth Mindset” The program provides an opportunity to learn strategies to understand, develop, and promote a growth mindset for yourself and your children. Care Plus clinicians will teach effective communication strategies and coping skills to help you support your child. They will include information related to your child’s development and how this impacts their ability to meet appropriate milestones and regulate their emotions. During this presentation, you will learn how to approach your child mindfully and decrease conflict in setting expectations and helping your child succeed. WRSD Curriculum Council, led by our Director of Elementary Education, Mrs. Velez, met today to discuss important curriculum needs and assessment.

This week we celebrate our school counselors for National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). I would like to personally thank our Westwood Regional School Counselors. Each counselor works to provide their students with the utmost attention and concern. They are dedicated, caring, professional, and advocate for their students each and every day.
