A beautiful day to be enjoying the sunshine! Research says that fresh air and movement help our brains to function better, and therefore learn more. So fun catching up with our amazing students! @WashCardinals

Students in Mrs. Maul's and Mr. Krebs' Physics class are wrapping up their culminating project for their momentum unit by testing the crashworthiness of their paper cars. . They were tasked with following the Engineering Design Process to research vehicle safety features and then design and construct a car entirely out of 2 pieces of paper, tape, 1 wooden skewer, and 1 straw. Their design needed to fit certain size specifications, include at least 3 vehicle safety features, travel quickly down an inclined track, and protect its occupant (a plastic egg) from ejection, fracture, or significant harm when it collided with a brick wall.

Ms. Gilbert's and Mr. O'Connor's Chemistry class worked on a Hydrates Lab which assisted them in utilizing mole conversions to determine the ratio between Copper (II) sulfate molecules & water of hydration. Students were then able to calculate the mass, the number of moles of anhydrous copper (II) sulfate, and the mass/ moles lost from hydrate and determine the mole ratio of copper (II) sulfate and water. This lab activity culminated with the student's discovery of how the formula of copper (II) sulfate hydrate was developed.
